Social Shelf legal

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Social Shelf collects, why we use it, how public profiles work, how we share information, and the choices available to account holders and visitors.

Effective date: October 4, 2026 · Version: 2026-10-04-v1

Important: This is a detailed product draft based on the current Social Shelf architecture. The operating legal entity, vendor list, retention periods, jurisdictions, transfer safeguards, and rights language must be verified by a privacy lawyer before launch. See the Cookie Notice and Terms & Conditions.

1. Who we are and what this Privacy Policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains how Social Shelf collects, uses, stores, discloses, protects, and otherwise processes personal information when you visit the Social Shelf website, create or use an account, publish or view a profile, upload photographs or other media, click links, contact support, use analytics, or interact with the Platform.

“Social Shelf,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean the legal entity that operates Social Shelf. The operating legal entity, registered address, privacy contact, and data-protection contact must be completed before this Policy is treated as final. For privacy questions, contact support@socialshelf.me.

This Policy applies to account holders, profile visitors, people who contact support, people whose information is included in a published profile, and visitors to the Social Shelf marketing website. A profile owner may also have separate privacy responsibilities for information that they collect from visitors through their profile or external links.

2. Information you provide

We collect information you provide when you register, log in, complete onboarding, create a profile, contact support, report content, request account assistance, purchase a paid feature, respond to a survey, or otherwise communicate with us.

  • Account information such as email address, authentication provider, password-related records, verification status, account status, and consent records.
  • A private account country that you select during profile setup. Your account country is separate from any location you choose to publish.
  • Profile information such as display name, username, biography, location, category, social handles, contact details, goals, public links, offers, prices, calls to action, and other information you choose to publish.
  • Media such as photographs, profile images, cover images, graphics, documents, thumbnails, and other files you upload or request us to process.
  • Communications such as support messages, abuse reports, copyright reports, feedback, survey answers, correspondence, and information needed to investigate a complaint.
  • Billing and transaction information provided by you or our payment providers, such as plan, subscription, payment status, billing country, invoice information, and transaction identifiers. Payment-card data may be handled directly by the payment provider rather than stored by Social Shelf.
  • Information about consent, including the Terms and Privacy Policy version accepted, acceptance time, account, and the technical evidence used to record that acceptance.
  • Visitor form submissions sent through a Social Shelf profile, limited to the fields enabled by the profile owner, such as name, email, phone, preferred callback time, location, attendee count, message, and newsletter permission.

3. Information collected automatically

When you use the Platform, we may automatically receive technical and usage information such as IP address, approximate location derived from IP, browser type, operating system, device type, language, time zone, referring page, pages viewed, profile viewed, link clicked, dates and times of access, error information, security events, and interactions with forms or buttons.

Social Shelf currently aims to use privacy-conscious analytics. The dashboard may show aggregate profile views, outbound-click statistics, product or offer performance, category trends, and similar metrics without creating named visitor profiles for that purpose. We may still process limited technical data for authentication, security, rate limiting, fraud prevention, diagnostics, legal compliance, and reliable operation.

We may use cookies, local storage, server-side session cookies, pixels, log files, and similar technologies. See the separate Cookie Notice for categories, purposes, controls, and third-party technologies.

4. Information from third parties

We may receive information from authentication providers, hosting and storage providers, payment processors, security and CAPTCHA providers, analytics providers, email providers, connected social platforms, public websites, partners, service providers, and people who submit reports about content or accounts.

If you choose to connect a third-party account or publish a link to another service, that service may provide or collect information under its own privacy policy. Social Shelf does not control the privacy practices of third-party websites, social networks, payment destinations, booking systems, stores, downloads, or other external services.

5. How we use personal information

We use personal information to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Platform; create and authenticate accounts; host and display profiles; process uploads; provide analytics; respond to support; investigate reports; prevent fraud and abuse; enforce our policies; communicate with you; process purchases; and comply with legal obligations.

We may use account, profile, visitor, click, link, product, category, offer, device, country, referral, performance, and usage information to develop features, understand product performance, troubleshoot errors, test designs, measure campaigns, create aggregate or de-identified statistics, and improve the safety, reliability, and usefulness of Social Shelf.

We may use this information to train, test, evaluate, and improve Social Shelf analytics, recommendations, ranking logic, creator guidance, fraud prevention, abuse detection, spam prevention, safety systems, internal machine-learning or statistical models, and related Social Shelf projects or tools. We do not use this wording to claim ownership of personal photographs, private profile drafts, private account files, or User Content.

For example, we may analyze whether technology creators receive more clicks on headphones than microphones, whether real-estate profiles receive more activity from property links than booking links, or whether a specific type of call to action performs better in a particular category. We may use these learnings to improve dashboards, recommendations, templates, safety systems, pricing, support, and future Social Shelf features.

We may create aggregated, de-identified, or statistical information from Platform activity, such as category trends, click patterns, popular product types, profile-performance benchmarks, and feature usage. We may use this information for product improvement, research, reporting, marketing, business planning, investor materials, and related projects, provided it does not reasonably identify an individual visitor or account holder.

We may use publicly published profile content, screenshots, public profile URLs, public profile images, public usernames, public text, aggregated statistics, and other publicly visible material for Social Shelf publicity, marketing, demonstrations, sales conversations, customer examples, case studies, announcements, social-media posts, advertising, investor materials, and promotional materials as described in the Terms. This may include showing one public profile to another potential customer as an example of work created with Social Shelf. We do not intentionally use private draft content, private account files, or unpublished personal photographs for public marketing without separate permission.

We may send service messages such as verification, password recovery, security alerts, policy changes, billing notices, account notices, support replies, and moderation decisions. We may send marketing messages where permitted by law and where you have not opted out or where another lawful basis applies.

6. Legal bases and consent

Depending on where you live, we may process information because it is necessary to perform a contract with you, to take steps at your request before entering a contract, to comply with a legal obligation, for our legitimate interests, to protect people and the Platform, or because you have given consent. The legal basis may differ by purpose and jurisdiction.

When we rely on consent, you may withdraw it through the method offered at the time or by contacting support@socialshelf.me. Withdrawal does not make earlier processing unlawful and may prevent us from providing a feature that needs the information. Consent to marketing is separate from acceptance of the Terms and Privacy Policy.

7. Public profiles and information you choose to publish

A published Social Shelf profile is intended to be public. Information you place on a public profile may be visible to profile visitors, search engines, social networks, link-preview services, screenshots, archives, data brokers, scrapers, and other third parties. Public information may be copied, saved, indexed, redistributed, or used by others in ways Social Shelf cannot control.

Do not publish an address, phone number, email address, identity document, financial information, private photograph, child’s information, health information, confidential business information, or any other sensitive information unless you have a lawful reason and accept the consequences of public disclosure.

Removing a profile or account does not guarantee immediate removal from search indexes, caches, screenshots, archives, browser history, social posts, third-party services, or copies made by visitors. Contact us if you need help, but Social Shelf cannot control third-party copies.

8. How we share personal information

We may share information with service providers that help us operate Social Shelf, including hosting, database, authentication, storage, content delivery, email, customer support, payment, analytics, security, CAPTCHA, monitoring, and infrastructure providers. These providers may process information only as needed to provide services to us and under their own legal terms where applicable.

We may use advertising, search, social-media, analytics, or measurement providers to promote Social Shelf or publicly published profiles. These providers may process information to deliver, measure, limit, or improve campaigns, subject to consent, opt-out, and other controls required by applicable law. We do not intentionally provide private account files, unpublished profile drafts, or personal photographs to advertising providers for sale as standalone data.

We may share information with affiliates, professional advisers, insurers, auditors, lawyers, accountants, investors, financing parties, or potential buyers where reasonably necessary for business operations, advice, risk management, or a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction.

We may disclose information to courts, law enforcement, regulators, government bodies, rights holders, private complainants, or other parties when we reasonably believe disclosure is required or permitted by law, legal process, court order, safety concern, fraud investigation, security issue, or the protection of rights and property.

We may share information that you choose to make public with profile visitors, other users, social networks, search services, or the public. We cannot control what public viewers do with information that you publish.

Social Shelf does not currently sell personal photographs, private profile data, account files, or raw visitor data to third parties. If this changes, we will update this Policy and provide any notice, consent, opt-out, “Do Not Sell or Share,” or other rights required by applicable law before engaging in that sale or sharing.

9. Profile owner and visitor responsibilities

When a visitor submits a native Social Shelf form, Social Shelf stores the submission to operate the form and makes it available to the named profile owner. The form notice identifies this before submission. The profile owner is responsible for responding to the request and for their own use of that information.

The account holder is responsible for information that they independently collect from profile visitors, including information collected through an external form, email link, booking service, store, CRM, newsletter, payment page, or other destination. The account holder must provide any notices, obtain any consent, and comply with any privacy, marketing, consumer-protection, or data-protection obligations that apply to that collection.

Social Shelf may act as a service provider or processor for some information and as an independent controller or business for other information, depending on the feature, purpose, jurisdiction, and contractual arrangement. A separate data-processing agreement may be required before Social Shelf supports forms, lead capture, newsletters, or other features where an account holder determines the purpose and means of processing visitor data.

If you are a profile visitor and want to know how a profile owner handles information collected through a link or offer, contact that profile owner directly and review the privacy notice on the destination website.

10. Retention and deletion

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Platform, maintain account and billing records, provide support, prevent abuse, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, protect security, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Retention periods depend on the type of information, the purpose, the account status, legal requirements, and operational needs.

When you delete an account or ask us to delete information, we may delete, anonymize, de-identify, restrict, or cease using it as required by law and as technically feasible. Backups, security logs, legal records, fraud records, and information required for a dispute may remain for a reasonable period.

If content is removed for a policy, legal, security, or abuse reason, we may retain a limited record of the content, account, decision, report, and evidence to prevent re-upload, respond to legal requests, process appeals, and protect users and Social Shelf.

Profile owners can delete native form submissions from their dashboard. Social Shelf does not use form-message content for public analytics. We retain submissions only while needed to operate the feature, subject to account status, deletion requests, legal obligations, security, and a future published retention schedule.

11. Your privacy rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a copy of personal information; withdraw consent; opt out of certain marketing or sale/share activities; and complain to a privacy regulator. To make a request, contact support@socialshelf.me.

We may need to verify your identity and authority before completing a request. We may refuse, limit, or charge for a request where permitted by law, including where fulfilling it would disclose another person’s information, compromise security, violate a legal obligation, or interfere with an investigation.

You can unsubscribe from marketing email using the unsubscribe method in the message. Service and security messages may continue because they are necessary to operate the account.

12. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, loss, and destruction. Safeguards may include access controls, authentication, encryption in transit, vendor controls, rate limits, logging, backups, and abuse monitoring.

No online service, storage system, transmission, password, or security measure is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for using a unique password, protecting credentials, enabling available security features, and notifying us promptly at support@socialshelf.me about suspected compromise.

If we discover a security incident, we will investigate, contain, document, and notify affected people or regulators when required by applicable law.

13. International processing

Social Shelf and its service providers may process personal information in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have different privacy laws. Where required, we will use legally recognized safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections, adequacy decisions, or another lawful transfer mechanism.

You can contact support@socialshelf.me for information about applicable transfer safeguards, subject to security, confidentiality, and legal limitations.

14. Children

The Platform is not intended for people under 18. We do not knowingly request or intentionally collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided information or created an account, contact support@socialshelf.me.

15. Third-party services and links

The Platform may link to or integrate with third-party websites, social networks, payment providers, booking tools, stores, video services, analytics providers, and other services. Those services operate under their own privacy policies and terms. Social Shelf is not responsible for their collection, use, security, retention, or disclosure of information.

A user-provided link may send you to a service that collects information, uses cookies, requests payment, or performs profiling. Review the destination’s privacy notice before providing information.

16. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our Platform, vendors, legal obligations, data practices, or business changes. We will publish the new version with a new effective date. For material changes, we may provide additional notice or request consent where required by law.

Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date means the revised Policy applies to future processing to the extent permitted by law.

17. Contact us and complaints

Please direct privacy questions, access requests, deletion requests, correction requests, suspected privacy incidents, or complaints first to support@socialshelf.me. We will review and respond according to applicable law and our available information. You may also have the right to complain directly to the privacy regulator in your location.
